An old wooden propeller donated by longtime Redlands pilot Lloyd Roberts was made into a very attractive wall display by Redlands Airport Advisory Board Member Michael Sullivan. It’s a great addition to the public lobby. Thank you to Lloyd and Michael for their efforts to make our airport lobby a more interesting and attractive public space!

On Thursday 9-19, RAA Secretary Cindy Gablin delivered a short presentation on RAA’s Stuff a Plane with Toys for Tots event. The Redlands Optimist Club is a service organization dedicated to helping the youth of Redlands and surrounding communities. The Redlands club is comprised of community business professionals, retirees, and area service workers. They have performed activities that have benefited the community in a many ways since its founding in 1947. We appreciate their interest and welcome their participation in our annual Toys for Tots drive.

Friday the 13th was a good day for Redlands Pilots. Tony Higa placed 2nd in the Silver Biplane heat, Phil Ensley placed 2nd in the Gold Biplane heat, and Karl Grove placed 1st in the Silver Sport Class. Way to go!

If you need an excuse to fly, here’s a good one. The rain have really made wildflowers in Southern California abundant this year. Here’s the view from 4,500 just n/w of Lake Elsinore. Other spots to go flower watching include the area around Borrego Valley Airport (L80)and the Antelope Valley just west of Fox field (KWJF). Take a friend to show them the spectacular view!
