Lone Pine Backcountry Fly-In

October 7-10, Lone Pine Airport- O26

Come visit the east side of the Sierra Nevada, deep in the Owens Valley, under the shadow of Mount Whitney: Lone Pine.

In its second year, this convergence of backcountry-minded aviators will offer a chance to combine aviation with the wilds of California’s Northern Mojave backcountry. Key to the core mission of this fly-in is that unique adventure only enabled by aircraft combined with skilled pilot.

For those proficient in their flying craft, each day will offer opportunities for the adept aviator to fly-out to backcountry destinations in the surrounding area and return for the evening to Lone Pine. Different skill levels can be accommodated; please inquire if curious.

Camping under-wing on-field (tents only please) is the primary option. However hotel rooms in town can be arranged if booked immediately.

A food truck on-site in the evenings will offer up the option of vittles; or bring and prepare your own. As well, the in-town restaurants are walkable. Tie-down fees must be paid (cash only) and registration is mandatory (see flyer). To register go to:

Stuff A Plane Charity Toy Drive

December 4th, Redlands Municipal Airport -KREI

To support our local community this year, the RAA is hosting a toy drive to benefit the Salvation Army. We have met with the local Salvation Army Redlands Corps and they are extremely excited to have our help. We will hold the toy drive at the lobby of the Redlands Airport on December 4th

EAA Chapter 845 will be holding a Young Eagles event that day. We will also be inviting pilots at surrounding airports to fly in and donate toys. The RAA will be hosting a barbeque lunch for a reasonable price.  We are inviting pilots, their families and members of the local community to come to the event and donate a new, unwrapped toy to support this wonderful campaign.

We will begin collecting toys beginning November 1st. We are looking for volunteers to place and monitor toy collection boxes at businesses, churches, or other locations.  If you are interested in placing a collection box, please send an email ASAP to

Be a hero and volunteer to make this year’s toy drive a great success.
