There is nothing in the CDC guidelines that prevents any pilot from climbing in their airplane and going for a ride to maintain currency. There are issues if you take a friend for a ride as you will probably have difficulty with maintaining 6′ separation. But, you certainly can take your spouse and family members for a ride.
There are some sights to see in the local area. There are hundreds of airliners parked at Victorville Logistics Airport (KVCV). There are over a hundred Delta ships at San Bernardino too. It’s quite a spectacle, as we all know it is costing billions to park these aircraft as a result of the pandemic. We hope people will be willing to get in airliners soon! If you hurry, there is a spectacular poppy bloom in the Antelope Valley. This will certainly cheer you up after your flight to KVCV. Just look west of Fox field ( KWJF) and you will see the orange landscape with miles of poppy blooms. Here’s another shot from this morning.
Unfortunately, your favorite local airport restaurants are closed to diners. But, many have takeout. Consider supporting them with a take out order. You may want to call ahead for their hours.
