Stuff a Plane with Toys for Tots

The Redlands Airport Association in cooperation with the US Marine Corps will once again hold the “Stuff a Plane with Toys for Tots” at the west ramp of Redlands Municipal Airport on November 16, 2019 from 10 am to 3 pm. This is the kickoff event for our annual toy drive. Our event this year is a Fly-In and Aviation Expo.

The event is open to the community and will feature:

  • Military and Vintage Aircraft Displays
  • Aircraft Exhibitor Awards – Awards will be given in these categories; Peoples Choice, Best Contemporary Airplane, Best Classic Airplane, Best Homebuilt Airplane and Best Rotorcraft
  • Airport Open House
  • Learn to Fly Seminars – Learn about becoming a pilot
  • Kid Zone
  • A Community Blood Drive  LifeStream will be at our event once again. We encourage the community to come out and donate the Gift of Life. 
  • Pet Adoption Event – Guests can adopt a new 4-legged companion!   
  • Redlands Fire Department and Police Department Displays
  • Food and Beverages – By Chick-fil-a Citrus Plaza
  • Music, Numerous Exhibits, Raffles and Fun for the Whole Family!

Admission is free, but guests are requested to bring a new, unwrapped toy or make a donation. Toys for Tots is a U.S. Marine Corp Reserve program which began in 1947 in Los Angeles with a small group of reservists to collect and distribute new toys for the holidays to needy children in the local community.

The event will be held on the west ramp of Redlands Municipal Airport which is located at 1551 Sessums Drive Redlands, CA.

Instructions For Guests Driving to the Event

Parking is free and is located on Sessums and Aviation Drive near the entrance. Entrance to the event is the walk-in gate near the corner of Sessums Drive and Aviation Drive on the west end of the airport. 

Instructions for Guests Flying to the Event

We will have ramp area available for guests flying in to enjoy our event. Aircraft parking is available on the east side of the west ramp. Please call “Toys for Tots Ground” on 123.05 for parking instructions. We would recommend bringing your own wheel chocks.

Instructions for All Exhibitors

Irrespective of whether you are exhibiting a plane or have committed to have any exhibit on the ramp, we would like exhibitors to arrive starting at 8:00 am on Saturday, November 16th. Please be set up and ready by 9:45 am. All exhibitors must stay until 3pm. Safety is of utmost importance.  The airport will be fully operational so please follow the instructions of our volunteers (wearing orange vests) when you arrive. 

The vehicle entrance for exhibitors will be at the vehicle gate (Coyote Gate), on the west end of the airport at 1551 Sessums Dr. You can drive your vehicle onto the ramp to unload and load. But, because of insurance requirements, after unloading you must park your vehicles outside the airport on Sessums or Aviation Drive. With the exception of a few exhibitors that meet these insurance requirements, vehicles cannot be left on the ramp during the event.

If you are exhibiting an aircraft, please taxi to the west parking ramp and call ” Toys for Tots” Ground on 123.05 for instructions. We would recommend bringing your own wheel chocks. You are encouraged to share any information you have on your aircraft with guests. Register your aircraft at the hospitality booth.

You are encouraged to bring a display table and chairs if needed for your display. You are also welcome to bring an EZ-up to provide shade. It does get windy on the ramp. Please make sure you secure your EZ-up/shade structure with heavy weights.  With the exception of provisions made for our food vendor, Chick-fil-a Citrus Plaza, and our DJ, Dream Weaver, there is no electricity available on the ramp. 

As an incentive to arrive before 10 am, a free continental breakfast will be made available to our exhibitors at the hospitality booth. Breakfast goodies will be available between 8 am -10 am or until supplies run out. We do appreciate your participation in our event! Don’t forget, the primary purpose of this event is to collect toys for those children that are less fortunate during the holidays.  Please consider bringing a new unwrapped toy or make a cash donation for the cause.
