Here are some frequently asked questions about the Redlands Airport Association (RAA):
What is the intent of the RAA?
- To be an advocacy group for the airport and its users.
- To deal with issues affecting the viability of the airport.
- To build public support for Redlands Municipal Airport.
- To foster positive working relationships and be the one voice for our airport community via two way communication with city, county, state and federal government agencies.
- To be a fair representative group of the aviation community that exists at the Redlands Municipal Airport.
- To host social events and other activities to promote the airport and its aviation community.
- To preserve our freedoms to use and enjoy REI.
- To support existing REI business and work to attract new businesses.
- To perform volunteer work at REI to improve the airport.
Who are the members of the RAA?
Representatives include but are not limited to the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 845, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Redlands Flying Club, the Redlands Airport Advisory Board, San Bernardino Valley College Aeronautics Department, Federal Aviation Administration Safety Team, Redlands Aviation, Redlands Aerosports, Aero Tech Academy, Allways Air Aviation, and the San Bernardino County Airport Commission and members of the local community that recognize the value of Redlands Municipal Airport.
Why was it formed?
- To advocate for the airport and its users.
- To improve the relationship between the airport users and the City of Redlands.
- The existing city of Redlands Airport Advisory Board’s primary function is to support the city council. They have no stated purpose to represent or support the airport users.
Why do we need an airport advocacy group, I already belong to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA)?
The AOPA supports all General Aviation Pilots. They do a real good job walking the halls of Congress. They do not have the resources to get involved with every General Aviation Airport. The Redlands Airport Association does lean on the AOPA for help and they help where they can. Ultimately, we need to proactively help ourselves to resolve airport issues.
What is the affiliation of the RAA with the California Pilots Association (CalPilots)? 
The California Pilots Association is a non-profit public benefit California Corporation formed in 1949. The mission of this statewide volunteer organization is to preserve, protect and promote the state’s general aviation airports, as well as pilot’s rights. CalPilots utilizes a 3 tiered defense to protect local airports. They work with national organizations such as the AOPA and EAA, but they rely on local organizations like the RAA to act as the front line on individual airport issues. who is better to understand what the issues are, and what the status is at an airport than the pilots who are based there? 
There are currently 57 affiliates organizations of CalPilots. Of the 57 there are 21 that are chapters of CalPilots. As subordinate chapters they not only can use the resources available to them, but they can also utilize Cal Pilots 501C-3 tax status.
