Stuff a Plane with Toys for Tots

The Redlands Airport Association is once again going to “Stuff a Plane with Toys for Tots” at the Redlands Municipal Airport on November 4th from 10 am to 3 pm.

We believe our airport is a valuable asset to the local community. Our sponsorship of “Stuff a Plane with Toys for Tots” is a great way to share our municipal airport by having an aviation themed event designed to get the community involved in a worthy cause; donating toys to less fortunate children for the holidays.

Last year, the event brought over 300 people to the airport, we collected over 500 toys and $1000 that was donated to the US Marine Corp Reserve Toys for Tots campaign. In December, the toys and cash were delivered to the USMC at 29 Palms airport by a small armada of private aircraft (approximately 30) predominately based at Redlands Airport.  The donations made to the USMC 29 Palms personnel were used for distribution to needy children in Southern California.

This is our third year holding this event. Our goal is to collect even more toys and cash this year for Toys for Tots. We will collect toys at various locations until December 2, 2017. That is the scheduled date of our fly-out to 29 Palms airport to deliver toys to the USMC Reserve.

What better way to put a smile on some child’s face this holiday season by donating a toy to this worthy organization, Toys for Tots!

This year will truly be a benefit event to help others. We have partnered with LifeStream this year. They will be at the airport with their mobile blood bank. The blood bank is always in need of blood and it is very rewarding to know that donors can help save a life. A blood donation is a gift of life.

We picked a theme this year that demonstrates the generosity of airport users and members of the community that will donate to these organizations. This year, the theme for our “Stuff a Plane with Toys for Tots” is Give the Gifts of Life and a Smile.

Want to save a life? The folks from LifeStream will be onsite so you can donate a pint of blood. LifeStream will take donations from donors without an appointment, but they do  recommend making an appointment to make sure they can get you in and out quickly.  You can click on this link to make your appointment:

Do you need a furry friend, or are you an animal lover? Well, you can learn how to adopt a homeless dog or cat from YAPS. Pilots N Paws will talk about how they help with pet adoptions. The Page Project will be there looking for donations that they can distribute to animal rescues or shelters. Some items of interest are: clean, used blankets, towels, sheets, crates, carriers, kennels, dog and cat food (unopened), bowls, new & used collars, leashes & doggie sweaters, healthy treats & chew toys. Also Frontline/Frontline Plus & Advantage, cat litter (unopened) and cleaning supplies.

Once again, the US Marines will be at our front gate. We will have cool planes, cars and motorcycles on display and an airport open house so guests can visit our great airport. Some of our brave firefighters from Redlands Fire department will be there to talk about their work. Volunteers from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Aero Squadron will also be there with their aircraft and will talk about their role in the community. There will be great food and drinks available for purchase from the great folks at Chick-fil-A Citrus Plaza.

Redlands EAA Chapter 845 will have a booth and kids from 8-17 can sign up for a free airplane ride to be conducted on November 18th during their Young Eagle Flights.

The event is free to guests, but we are asking that they bring a new unwrapped toy, or make a donation. Exhibitors wishing to participate in our event can do so at no cost.

For those wishing to show their plane, car, truck, or motorcycle, please plan to arrive between 8:30 – 9:45 am. We need to have the vehicles in place prior to the community arriving to limit movement on the ramp. It’s all about safety. Thank you.
